Vittana: Educating the World

In the US, the average college student earns more than someone with only a high school degree. This is offset by many mine workers, construction workers who work overtime, and other laborers. But a college graduate is more likely to get what some would consider to be a better job, they have better job security, and unless you are talking about social workers, they make more money while working fewer hours.

College Graduates Make More Than Non-Graduates

According to stats collected by the great state of New York, the lowest average wage is $23,900. Workers who require only short term on-the-job training typically live on this wage.

But with something as basic as an Associate degree, you see a sharp spike in pay, averaging $55,000, in large part because half of those with an Associate degree in New York are registered nurses. Interestingly enough, those with a Master’s degree average $53,700, because most of these workers are social workers, mental health counselors, and substance abuse counselors. Again, social workers seem to be the exception to the general rule of thumb.

Other studies demonstrate that the average high school graduate makes $28,700 while the average college graduate with a Bachelor’s degree makes $53,800. But enough about the money. How do you get there?

How Vittana Helps

Vittana believes that everybody has the right to a proper education. Obviously, it’s easier for an American student to get student loans, to get a job and work their way through school, etc. So the majority of the loans go to students in countries like Paraguay, Bolivia, Brazil, the Philippines, etc. And despite what many may think, this is not charity. You give these students a loan.

Like any loan, these students eventually pay you back. They borrow as little as $25 an as much as $2000 in most cases, much less than the average American school. But you could be contributing to the education and self-sufficiency of a lawyer, a welder, or teacher, ultimately transforming nations over time.

Vittana Teaches a Man to Fish

Vittana gives every penny donated to the student, and the student pays every penny back once they graduate. Vittana is one of a growing number of organizations extending micro loans meant to fund businesses, education, and other methods of self-sufficiency in third world countries. And it is currently the only organizations that sends the money back to you.
