PGA Golf Tournaments

The PGA Golf Tournament, more commonly known as the PGA Tour, is conducted for male professional golfers in both North America and the United States. This tournament is run by the PGA TOUR officials that are based in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. This tour became its own tournament in 1968, after detracting from the Professional Golfers’ Association of America. The PGA TOUR conducts forty-three of the week-to-week tournaments in which professionals participate. No matter the event the professional participate, each will have practice for countless hours. Many will consult golf swing trainers for better swing angles.

The forty-five events will be conducted over forty-one weeks and will include four different events and three alternate events: the Presidents Cup with golfers from the United States and Europe; the CIMB Asia Pacific Classic Malaysia with players from Southeast Asia and other Asian players; and the HSBC Champions with various professionals.

Most professional players will play between twenty and thirty events during the golfing season. The tour normally begins in January in Hawaii and moves on to California and Arizona, then through the Southeast, Midwest, and Northwest. Normally events will host between one hundred thirty players and one hundred fifty players.

The events are broken into categories. The Majors include the top four events: the Masters Tournament, the US Open, the British Open Championship, and the PGA Championship. The World Golf Championships include several international events. Other events include the Hyundai Tournament of Champions with thirty-six holes, the Players Championship, the FedEx Cup, and the Official World Golf Rankings. Playoff events are present in the FedEx Cup.

Each tournament can be broken into further categories of teams, regular, invitationals, alternate, and fall series. Other made-for-TV events are included, such as the Franklin Templeton Shootout, and the Skins Game.
